Theosophically minded people tend to enjoy reading quality literature and the range available is broad.
Book lists of all in our library are now available to our group and all are available to borrow.
*Conditions apply.
Keen readers can never hope to read everything on offer so can gain benefit from anothers personal studies.
What we tend to do is gather together a selection of books on a topic of interest to ourselves and share
that information.
We might select from a favourite author's works or a variety of knowledgeable authors on the subject of
our choice. This gives the advantage of a broader viewpoint to ponder, digest, and make our own.
Sharing our own 'revelations' from reading sometimes has the benefit of engendering interest in subjects
of which others may never have considered interesting enough for their own personal study.
In the short time of Far North Theosophy, the group has together touched on the matter of reincarnation.
Fact or Fallacy? What is the evidence and is it reliable. What is written about the matter in Judeo/Christian literature, how is it perceived in Eastern traditions. What do the newer world religions, eg Baha'i say about it.
Intention is to follow through with the subject via a broad selection of books as well as dvd accounts of children,
especially, who claim to have been 'someone else' in a previous life before they have had
enough years behind them to be conditioned out of those past life memories.
Another member has interest in land changes happening today in light of it being known major landmass changes have happened before so not entirely unheard of.
Information about all these things are in Ancient Literature we are privy to as well as contemporary information about the matter. This topic is of particular interest to the Far North Region according to a contemporary scholar
on that subject.......all will be revealed and shared when the members own personal study is completed.
Another felt inclined to delve into an Introduction book about the famous Secret Doctrine written by Helena Petrova Blavatsky. It is said that even Einstein kept those Secret Doctrine books on his desk as a resource when he got stuck about anything.
Theosophists are very fortunate to have access to such literature and to people who are able to present the facts in an understandable way to anyone interested.
Crystal Mountain, written by local author Dr Cornelius vanDorp is being read and reviewed by another and there is a waiting list in our group to read that book. Another is interested to select a range of Christian literature that seems to have been overlooked in contemporary Christian thought.
In due course we will have a presentation by someone who has explored the interesting notion of Animal Souls.
There are numerous areas of exploration within Theosophical Society's 3 Objects and Purpose.
Basically: Create a nucleus of togetherness in the world without any distinctions of people or belief systems. Investigate comparative religions, philosophies, sciences. Investigate and realise the full potential within ourselves and all of humanity.
If we sound like a group you might be interested to know...or, any of the topics being studied interest you, or you have something you may like to interest the rest of us about....please make contact through the Contact Us
page, or phone number on this site.
All are Welcome to any of our friendly gatherings.
